The quality of every relationship you will ever have, is determined by the relationship you have with yourself.
Think about that for a moment. The one and only lifelong relationship any of us have is with ourselves!
Whether you are in a relationship with another or not, you are always in a relationship with yourself. It’s the most important relationship you will ever have and it colours all the relationships you’ll ever have with others.
What condition is that relationship in? Are you loving, understanding and kind to yourself? Do you treat yourself the way you would treat someone you loved with all your heart? Or is your inner-critic running the show?
Given how important the health of this vital relationship is, it’s astonishing how little thought, time or effort any of us put in to nurturing it.
Surely your first and lifelong love deserves some care and attention.
You nurture your relationship with yourself by doing things you love. No matter what others think. You also nurture your relationship with yourself by making some quiet time, going within and being deeply, but gently, honest with yourself.
