If you have symptoms of illness, pain or discomfort, use those in your set up statement as you tap on your Side of Hand Point. For example, “Even though I have this cold, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself”. Repeat this three times then tap the Eyebrow Point gently, around ten times, saying “I have this cold”. Move to the Side Of Eye point and repeat, “I have this cold”. Repeat this at all the tapping points finishing off with the Top of Your Head point.

Most pregnant women are well used to the ever lengthening list of food and activities they need to avoid to ensure a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery.

An unintended side effect of this well-meaning advice is to increase stress, worry and anxiety at the very time a woman should be creating her own emotionally safe place and learning how to relax.

Until fairly recently, the emphasis was almost completely on physical health, emotional well-being was completely over looked. Happily, this situation in now changing and it has become apparent that the emotional health of a mum-to-be is vitally important both for herself and her unborn baby.

If a woman feels threatened or scared during pregnancy, that information is communicated by neurochemicals and passes through the placenta. The baby may then go into protection mode rather than healthy growth mode, this can inhibit proper brain and body development.

Excessive stress not only feels awful but it causes our cortisol levels to rise. Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, can cross the placenta and affect the unborn baby.

High levels of cortisol not only affect the baby’s emotional health but can also affect physical maturation. Lung maturation is one area known to be affected by high levels of cortisol. As the mother of a three month premature baby I know only too well the importance of lung maturation. The maturation of a baby’s lungs can literally mean life or death!

Babies subjected to high levels of cortisol in the womb also show signs of being more affected by stress after birth. As older children and adults they can be more prone to depression and anxiety.

With this in mind, finding a way to slow down and relax isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity and an investment in your baby’s future well-being. But how do you stop intrusive thoughts and worry? Meditation is a great place to start.

Some of the benefits of meditation during pregnancy are:-

How Healing Your Emotions Can Improve Your Skin

Our inner world is reflected in our outer world, it shows on our skin for all to see. Your skin is one of the largest and most remarkable organs of your body. It is waterproof, washable, elastic and self mending. It protects against water loss whilst allowing us to perspire, defends against infection and exposure to foreign substances and regulates our temperature.

Skin problems can be hard to live with. Endless flaking or itching, repeated outbreaks or eruptions affect every area of your life. Notoriously difficult to treat by conventional methods you have to dig deeper to find the real answer. The real answer is that your skin is simply expressing your inner conflicts and emotions!

Depth of emotion surging through the body can erupt through the skin. The skin represents the boundary of our body. If our emotional and energetic boundaries are not healthy this may reflect in the condition of our skin. If you are irritated or if someone is “getting under your skin” should you be surprised that your skin becomes itchy or inflamed, angry and red?

If we feel we are under attack, even if we strive to show a polished veneer to the outer world, sooner or later our skin will come to our defence in the only way it knows how, by manifesting physical evidence, acne, redness, itching, hardening or flaky skin.

As with everything, our inner world is reflected in our outer world, it shows on our skin for all to see. As always the answer is to look within, spring clean your inner world and allow your skin space and peace to heal. The good news is that you can clear and heal those emotions and your skin will then reflect your inner well-being.

Let go of the belief that you have “bad” skin. Remember, your skin is always doing the very best it can so send it love and appreciation instead of complaints or criticism.
