Talk To Your Pain

Talking to your pain might seem like a strange concept but I am willing to bet that you already do it!

When you become aware of your self-talk you realise that when you are in pain you tend to complain about it, if not to others, certainly to yourself. You may grumble about it, feel resentful and even angry that it prevents you from doing things you want to do.

You judge and criticise yourself and your body. You tell others what a “bad back” or “bad hip” you have and how much you suffer with it.

If you have a name for your pain, a diagnosis, it is worth remembering diagnosis is simply a word. It is just a word used to describe a symptom or symptoms showing up in the body. Diagnosis is only a name, agreed upon to identify specific symptoms.

A diagnosis only has as much power as YOU give it! When you talk about it and identify yourself with it, you give it more power, you give it more energy. When you talk about it, you are affirming you have it!

If you do any of these things, you are already talking to your pain and you are affirming it! The great news is that now that you are aware of this you can change it!

You can change it this very minute by changing the way you talk to the part of your body that is pain. Think of it as a small child, puppy or kitten scared and in pain. Instead of complaining, focus on sending it warm, loving thoughts, if you can (you might not be ready for this step yet) thank it for everything it has done for you and for the message it is sending you. By doing this you change the energy around it instantly.

There are over 2,500 of them so you are bound to find something that suits your situation. When you use these affirmations you are using the same words the people below used to ease their pain. Please use them freely and share them with friends and loved ones.

Knee Pain

Hip Pain

“A few days ago after moving my father in law to a nursing home, we had to clear out his apt. This is the apt I have taken care of him for almost a year. Clearing out his apt was filled with so many emotions. I developed almost debilitating left hip pain while moving his stuff out. Now two days later after cleaning up a day ago, I woke up with pain in the morning but my nightfall tonight, it is almost all gone. I was in so much pain I was crying and could only drag my leg around all yesterday. Even today earlier in the day, there was still intense pain at times. As an herbalist, I began to question if it was not emotional rather than overdoing it when moving the stuff out. I know it is. There was so much fear for the future since he was paying us to take care of him. So we have half the income we had but I know we will make it through, even though it is scary since we are 66 and 70. We had to put him in….we physically could not handle him. It was an abrupt change from 24 hours a day for weeks to none. These thin little parts of our body support our entire weight. If an ankle slips our whole body falls to the ground. Support is the key here as the ankles reflect the support we depend on not just from others but from our inner support system. This inner system consists of psychological and emotional beliefs that give our lives meaning and purpose. If any of this is taken away, doubted or questioned there is nothing to hold us upright. The vibrational cause has revealed itself! I had two incidences with a swollen ankle between July and October and I wanted to get to the vibrational cause at the time. I felt the pain receding from my foot. After breaking my foot in a fall as I was struggling with the limitations this injury placed on my life and worried about finances as I was unable to work. My anxiety was high, I was exhausted, in constant pain and feeling powerless on so many levels. Barbara’s soothing voice and calm guidance through the session gave me the space to breathe again.
