As 2022 draws to an end, Christmas and other mid-winter celebrations come into view. There is much to ponder. 

Given the relentless onslaught of the last two years, many of us crawled into 2022 carrying shock, trauma, grief, heaviness and disbelief. Whether we have consciously processed it or not, 2022 has been another year of more pressure, more stress, more physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. 

Some of us may be facing the first Christmas without a loved one.. Others will be welcoming their first Christmas as new parents or newly weds. 

Regardless of the specifics, this is a season of contrasts. A season of great joy and of utter desolation. 

Surprisingly, whether you are lost in bustle and excitement or desolation and dread, there is a “one size fits all”, appropriate sentiment – compassion. 

Firstly, compassion for yourself. No matter your circumstances, every human being deserves the healing salve of kindness. 

Take a breath, turn inwards. Remind yourself who you are, what you have endured and what you have overcome!

Fibromyalgia, M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, seem are symptomatic of the modern age. They are dis♥eases which have developed in response to the ever increasing pressure to succeed, to fit in, to be “good enough”. Fear of failure and/or lack of self-love contribute to the emotional exhaustion and physical pain. Unconscious emotional pain is expressed through our bodies as dis♥ease.

Some of the emotions often implicated in this type of dis♥ease are:- Feeling totally alone. Feelings of desolation, despair, hopelessness. Tired of trying to prove yourself. Low self worth. Lost the will to live. Pressure to succeed. Lost dreams/aspirations. Feeling not good enough. Keep pushing oneself or giving up. Finding it difficult to ask for help. The mind and body are intrinsically connected. Your body is unable to tell the difference between reality and imagination. So when you focus on your fears it creates as much havoc with your hormones, body chemistry and energy field as it would if you were facing a dangerous situation in real life.

Stress knocks our bodies off balance and triggers a cascade of stress hormones which influence your body via the autonomic nervous system. When our bodies are in flight, fight or freeze mode they have less energy available to maintain our immune systems and to heal and repair. It stands to reason then that chronic stress can easily lead to poor health and illness.

Your thoughts create an instant reaction in your body. Emotional stress alerts the body to produce stress chemicals such as cortisol, which—if produced on an ongoing basis—begin to break down the immune, gastrointestinal, neurological, and musculoskeletal systems.

More than ever we have to find a way to consciously relieve our stress levels every day!

Disconnect

One thing you can do is disconnect from all sources of ‘news’ at least for a short time during the day.  Make sure you don’t leave the news on in the background. Even though you might not be consciously aware of it, those fear-filled messages are getting through to your subconscious mind!

Choose where to put your Attention

Don’t get trapped in fear!

Emotional Release Eases Two Days Of Agonising Pain!

The following is a genuine (unsolicited) letter from a lady who used my What Your Body Wants To Hear, Release Grief & Trauma guided meditation.  To protect her privacy, I’ll call her Mary.  Once again, it seems to prove that when we let go of emotional trauma our bodies can heal and pain can vanish!

“For two days over the weekend just gone, I was in agony, I had severe pain in both sides of my neck and at the base of my skull, I thought it was due to a flare up of my fibromyalgia. So I put hot packs on my neck and took the max. dose of painkillers. I began to think I would have to see my chiropractor again!

Anyway like I told you in my last email I’d downloaded your meditations and it was that same night that I was guided to listen to your meditation on Grief & Trauma. I started to play it and as it continued I burst into tears and just kept sobbing….What a release!

I knew I was letting go of the Grief & Trauma that had been building up since my beloved husband passed over two years previous. And the things you mentioned on the meditation I really identified with and I was a little taken aback as I hadn’t realised I was holding onto such beliefs!

And recently I’d left a job where I’d been bullied and was still holding onto a lot of resentment and unforgiveness towards my ex-colleagues and over the last few years many of the jobs I have undertaken, had left me feeling disappointed, hurt and lacking in confidence. So I think some of these emotions were also released!

After the tears I felt as though a weight had lifted from me and a lot of the pain in my neck and at the base of my skull had GONE! And that night I slept soundly which was wonderful as the previous two nights I’d hardly slept due to the agonising pain.

So THANKS AGAIN Barbara!! I will continue to listen to your Grief & Trauma meditation (& your other meditations).”

The key is not the name of the physical condition, it is addressing and releasing the emotional trauma!

It’s important to notice that Mary didn’t do any work on fibromyalgia directly. Finding an outlet for her emotional trauma, grief,  resentment, unforgiveness, disappointment & lack of confidence resulted in two days of agonising pain dissolving!

I am often asked if I have a meditation for this condition or that condition. Although the What Your Body Wants to Hear series is pretty comprehensive, it would be impossible (and unnecessary) to cover every physical condition.

 

What Your Body Wants To Hear Release Grief & Trauma

The key is not the name of the physical condition, it is addressing and releasing the emotional trauma! Between the What Your Body Wants to Hear and Release, Heal & Transform meditation series I reckon we cover pretty much every emotion.

Using a meditation for the specific emotional issues implicated in your condition often affects the physical. That’s obviously what happened for this lady (and I am absolutely delighted for her!).

It doesn’t matter what name is given to physical symptoms, the solution is always the same. Finding a way to discover, acknowledge and release the underlying emotional pain (in conjunction with any other treatment you are doing. There are no contraindications to healing your emotions!) can only help your body to heal.
