These thin little parts of our body support our entire weight. If an ankle slips our whole body falls to the ground. Support is the key here as the ankles reflect the support we depend on not just from others but from our inner support system. This inner system consists of psychological and emotional beliefs that give our lives meaning and purpose. If any of this is taken away, doubted or questioned there is nothing to hold us upright. This can happen when we experience shock or trauma or when we feel rejected, betrayed and unable to stand alone.
As the ankles are essential to standing upright they tend to collapse when we can no longer stand it or when the weight from above is too much to stand or bear.

A broken ankle indicates very deep conflict about the ground you are standing on and support for where you are going. Are you questioning your underlying beliefs? What has damaged your ability to stand up for yourself?
Our ankles allow us flexibility of movement. Sprained or twisted ankles indicate a lack of flexibility for the direction we’re going in. Are you being pulled in different directions? Do you need to change direction? What needs to be untwisted, unravelled or redirected in your life?
