Our inner world is reflected in our outer world, it shows on our skin for all to see. Your skin is one of the largest and most remarkable organs of your body. It is waterproof, washable, elastic and self mending. It protects against water loss whilst allowing us to perspire, defends against infection and exposure to foreign substances and regulates our temperature.
Skin problems can be hard to live with. Endless flaking or itching, repeated outbreaks or eruptions affect every area of your life. Notoriously difficult to treat by conventional methods you have to dig deeper to find the real answer. The real answer is that your skin is simply expressing your inner conflicts and emotions!
Depth of emotion surging through the body can erupt through the skin. The skin represents the boundary of our body. If our emotional and energetic boundaries are not healthy this may reflect in the condition of our skin. If you are irritated or if someone is “getting under your skin” should you be surprised that your skin becomes itchy or inflamed, angry and red?
If we feel we are under attack, even if we strive to show a polished veneer to the outer world, sooner or later our skin will come to our defence in the only way it knows how, by manifesting physical evidence, acne, redness, itching, hardening or flaky skin.
As with everything, our inner world is reflected in our outer world, it shows on our skin for all to see. As always the answer is to look within, spring clean your inner world and allow your skin space and peace to heal. The good news is that you can clear and heal those emotions and your skin will then reflect your inner well-being.
Let go of the belief that you have “bad” skin. Remember, your skin is always doing the very best it can so send it love and appreciation instead of complaints or criticism.
A Quick Fix For Food Cravings – Heal Your Relationship with Food
Our relationship with food is intimately connected with how emotionally safe, loved and nourished we feel. An increase in appetite may result from emotional pain, the need to fill that painful, empty place with something. The something you are really looking for is love but in a perceived absence of love you make do with food. A lack of appetite can indicate a desire to retreat from life, nurturing the hurt inside us again indicating a need for love. Not feeling safe can lead you to put on weight and keep it on!
Our relationship with food can be complex. Powerful emotions of enjoyment and guilt get in to the mix. “Expert” advice about what is and is not healthy seems to change daily resulting in confusion and mixed emotions.

Can Simply Repeating Affirmations Really Ease Pain?
Truthfully, the answer has to be yes and no. If you repeat vague, unrelated so called ‘positive affirmations’ the chances are they won’t make the slightest difference to your pain levels. If you try to force things to change you can pretty much bet nothing will change. Using will-power and repetition without addressing the true emotional issues will have you on a hamster wheel going nowhere fast.
If, on the other hand, you use skillfully crafted, very specific affirmations which start out by accepting where you are – you are in pain, now is the time to be kind and gentle with yourself. Simply accept that, don’t try to fight or resist it – fighting and resisting will only ever create more fighting and resisting and more pain.
Using affirmations (and clearing statements) in the correct sequence, i.e. acknowledging, accepting, becoming open to the possibility of healing then embracing the positive in a gentle, force free and loving way will take you a lot further. Often when people adopt this attitude of self-acceptance of their physical condition they reach much deeper levels of awakening and self-discovery on spiritual levels too. This makes perfect sense when you realise that all pain has a message for you. So while none of us like being in pain, in the longer term, many people will tell you that their pain was their greatest gift and greatest teacher.

You may recall I was helped immensely by your guided meditation for releasing grief and trauma so I thought I would continue the healing process by freeing myself from needing the Omezrapole medication which I take for acid reflux.
It is early days yet but I listen to the meditation tape instead of taking the medication and I know my stomach is feeling the benefit of all the loving and liberating thoughts that I am sending it. It’s great to feel I can have a relationship with my own tummy and, like a mum, comfort it as I would a child.
I do continue to take medication if symptoms dictate and am grateful for that but it is wonderfully empowering to begin the self healing process.

“The “attack” if you will subsided and went away certainly as quickly (1/2 a minute) as the cold water. Hi Barbara, I’m a new subscriber 3/4 months, 76 years old, general health good, no medications. My most troubling health issue is skin/dermatology eg Brachioradial and probably Pruritus etc etc from mild to quite bothersome from time to time (every few days I have a good “flair” up). Prior to finding you web site I was treating my various skin conditions with various lotions and for the Brachioradial / on my arms the Best was very cold water for 4/5 minutes, actually brings immediate relief, lasting a few hours. Prior to finding your site I was using a Meditation app from Meditation Oasis and had been using it generally prior to going to bed/sleep a few times a week, I found it pretty good, but had no real long term experience a year or so with meditation. I’m sure I bumped into your site probably Googling around skin problems, issues etc etc etc. Subsequently I purchased your Beyond Affirmations most particularly Soothe Your Skin and also Healing For Your Heart.
I’d like to pass on a couple of my findings, most specifically to the Brachioradial (when it flares up it’s almost an attack) while having an “attack/itchiness/arms for what ever reason I decided instead of the cold water treatment I’d try your app, I actually used the the Relaxation and well being (15.58) introduction Meditation the “attack” if you will subsided and went away certainly as quickly (1/2 a minute) as the cold water. I’ve repeated this 20+ times in the past month eg works every time? Actually I find it more convenient than the long Soothe Your Skin, whatever works.
I wanted to pass this along because this Brachioradial can be a real problem for many seniors and there is very, very little the dermatologist really know about it or more importantly how to treat it (mine for certain is a pinched nerve in my cervical 5/6 disc). A reader asked me a very interesting question about the What Your Body Wants to Hear meditations. I thought it may be of interest to others. So here’s our conversation:-
I found your website which led me here. Your writing on how to Heal Your Relationship with Moneyreally impacted me. One area I don’t quite understand is the “why” questions…Can you share why ask “why”.

The “Why” questions are a method of bridging from the releasing statements to the positive affirmations. It could otherwise be too large a jump for people to go straight in to really feeling the positive. It is also a way to get around the mind saying “yes but..” to a positive affirmation. There is a very different energy around the “Why” statements, try it for yourself, you will probably feel it. For example if you say “I am abundant” your mind will probably jump to the reasons you are not abundant, “I’ve got this debt/I haven’t got any money” that kind of thing. If on the other hand you say “Why am I so abundant?” the mind tends to go to the things you are abundant in, love, friends, pets, health etc. There is less resistance to the “Why” statements and they help to lead you in to the positive. I hope this helps.

A few people tried making a positive affirmation then asking a question and felt the difference in the energy between the two. People who initially thought it would be a negative thing tried it out and realised that far from being negative, it opens us up to the many blessings we actually do have in our lives. It helps us see what is going right for us. In the case of physical healing, it reminds us of all the parts of our bodies which are working beautifully.

Books espousing the power of positive thinking fill the Self-Help sections of book shops everywhere and yet people still feel bad about themselves and still manifest illnesses that indicate a lack of self-love and self-esteem.
So how can this be?
I agree with Dr Maté when he says “As soon as we qualify the word thinking with the adjective positive we exclude those parts of reality that strike us as negative”. And with Anita Moorjani when she says “We can’t control having negative thoughts, so trying to push them away doesn’t make them disappear; at most, this just buries them temporarily”.
Genuine positive thinking must include all of our reality, we must be able to trust ourselves to face the complete truth. In order to heal, we must have the courage to think negatively. Not in a miserable, pessimistic way, rather in a spirit of openness, a willingness to look at what is out of balance, what is not working, where we are carrying old emotional wounds, what have we ignored and what our body is telling us!
If we don’t ask these questions, the emotional wounds and stresses remain hidden. Not only that, but forcing ourselves to think only positive thoughts creates more stress and self-judgement.
Many people have asked me if the releasing and clearing statements in our What Your Body Wants To Hearmeditations are going to bring them more of what they don’t want. Such has been the power of law of attraction teachings that people are scared to hear or say certain words! As the root of many illnesses is stress and fear, being afraid to even think certain words can’t be healthy.
One study found that breast cancer patients with a propensity to engage in pleasant daydreams had a poorer prognosis than their more reality-based counterparts. So did women who reported fewer negative feelings. *
One way or another, most of us have been taught to suppress our true feelings. That teaching has gone so deep that we often don’t know what our true feelings are. As an Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner of almost twenty years, I absolutely believe there is a world of difference between gently acknowledging a painful negative emotion with love and the intention to heal it and talking about the pain, joining a group to talk about the pain and generally dwelling in it.
This seems to be corroborated by the amazing results people report when they use the clearing and releasing statements to lovingly name and acknowledge painful emotions before gently moving on to release them.
You CAN heal. You CAN change your thoughts but please be kind and gentle with yourself, you are just learning to turn your negative thoughts and words into positive ones. Don’t be afraid if a negative thought crosses your mind or a negative word passes your lips. The fear will give it more power and anchor it in to reality. Just be aware of it and let it pass. Remind yourself that kind of thinking is your old habit, you are now creating new habits.
And lastly, if part of you is ill or in dis-ease. Don’t get angry or blame it, treat it with gentleness and love as you would a sick child or puppy.
