There can be few things more challenging, painful and frustrating than trying to lose weight and feel confident and peaceful with your body image.

The simple fact is that in the long term, diets don’t work. It’s a very rare person who keeps the weight off if they haven’t addressed the core emotional issues which led them to become overweight in the first place. Those emotional issues are still alive and kicking, if they are not healed they will come to the fore again. They are responsible for the perpetual cycle of losing and regaining weight.

With every cycle of struggle to try to lose the extra pounds, the daily battle of will-power versus strong emotional cravings and desires leads to more frustration, despondency and self-loathing. Your negative self talk goes in to overdrive!

It takes time and repetition to change habits and beliefs which are rooted in the subconscious mind, so be patient with yourself. The best time to reach and reprogramme the subconscious mind is during the theta rhythm. This is the frequency your brain is in when you meditate, daydream or are deeply relaxed.
