Ease Cold & Flu Symptoms With E.F.T.

It’s that time of year again so I thought a short Emotional Freedom Technique session to help you ease cold symptoms might be useful.

The common cold often arises from the simple belief that there is such a thing as a “Cold Season”.  If we buy into this belief it’s pretty certain that we’ll develop a cold!  Feelings of overwhelm, being overworked, carrying too much responsibility, being under too much pressure, feeling scattered and not taking time to listen to your body and slow down also often result in us developing colds.

If you are feeling under the weather check to see if you are feeling any of these emotions. That will give you ideas for what to tap on.  But you can get started right now by following the suggestions below.

If you are not familiar with E.F.T.  Just follow the tapping points illustrated below.

EFT Tapping PointsStarting at the Side of Hand Point say your set up statement out loud if possible and tap gently on the Side of the Hand with two or three fingers of your other hand.

“Even though I have this cold, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself”.  Repeat this three times then tap the Eyebrow Point gently around ten times saying “I have this cold”. Move to the Side Of Eye point and repeat, “I have this cold”.  Repeat this at all the tapping points finishing off with the Top of Your Head point.

Return to your Side of Hand Point and say “Even though I have this cold, I know it’s my body’s way of giving me a message, maybe it just wants to me to slow down and take some time out. Or maybe it wants me to look after myself a bit more. Maybe I’ve just been doing to much and need to rest, nurture and love myself more.  I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself and I am grateful to my body for giving me this message. Repeat this three times.

Move to the Eyebrow Point and tap gently around ten times saying “My body is giving me this message, I am grateful. I now choose to listen to my body and take good care of myself”.

Repeat this at all the tapping points finishing off with the Top of Your Head point.

Back to the Side of Hand Point and say, “Even though I have (state symptom), I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself and my body. I am now listening to my body’s messages”. Again, repeat this three times then tap round the points using the reminder phrase, “This symptom (whatever the symptom is, i.e. this blocked nose etc).

You can then do a round for each of your symptoms.

If you don’t have any symptoms but want to give your immune system a boost try tapping a few rounds saying these, or similar statements:- “I know my immune system is doing the most amazing job and I deeply and completely love, accept and thank my immune system”.  “My immune system is fabulous, it knows exactly what it is doing and it keeps me healthy and well. I deeply and completely love and thank my immune system”. “My immune system is powerful, wise and strong. Talk To Your Pain

Talking to your pain might seem like a strange concept but I am willing to bet that you already do it!

When you become aware of your self-talk you realise that when you are in pain you tend to complain about it, if not to others, certainly to yourself. You may grumble about it, feel resentful and even angry that it prevents you from doing things you want to do.

You judge and criticise yourself and your body. You tell others what a “bad back” or “bad hip” you have and how much you suffer with it.

If you have a name for your pain, a diagnosis, it is worth remembering diagnosis is simply a word. It is just a word used to describe a symptom or symptoms showing up in the body. Diagnosis is only a name, agreed upon to identify specific symptoms.

A diagnosis only has as much power as YOU give it! When you talk about it and identify yourself with it, you give it more power, you give it more energy. When you talk about it, you are affirming you have it!

If you do any of these things, you are already talking to your pain and you are affirming it! The great news is that now that you are aware of this you can change it!

You can change it this very minute by changing the way you talk to the part of your body that is pain. Think of it as a small child, puppy or kitten scared and in pain. Instead of complaining, focus on sending it warm, loving thoughts, if you can (you might not be ready for this step yet) thank it for everything it has done for you and for the message it is sending you. By doing this you change the energy around it instantly.

Hip Pain

“A few days ago after moving my father in law to a nursing home, we had to clear out his apt. This is the apt I have taken care of him for almost a year. Clearing out his apt was filled with so many emotions. I developed almost debilitating left hip pain while moving his stuff out. Now two days later after cleaning up a day ago, I woke up with pain in the morning but my nightfall tonight, it is almost all gone. I was in so much pain I was crying and could only drag my leg around all yesterday. Even today earlier in the day, there was still intense pain at times. As an herbalist, I began to question if it was not emotional rather than overdoing it when moving the stuff out. I know it is. We feel energy and see the bigger picture but even knowing that, we can sometimes lose our focus and get sucked into the energies of fear, conflict, separation and dissonance. So what are the best things to do to prepare for 2018?

Heal Your Own Emotional Wounds Now!

In order to be as effective in playing the part you came here to play at this time of huge transition, you need to be in good emotional shape yourself. If we don’t take care of ourselves first we can fall into blame, judgement, anger, frustration, self-pity, depression and a whole host of other dark places. So please think about that, are there any areas that you still need to heal in yourself? If there are, now is the time to recognise and attend to them with love and compassion (no beating yourself up or self-judgement!).

A few years ago in my Emotional Freedom Technique Practice, I specialised in helping people with weight issues. I was fascinated by the various, sometimes complex, reasons we hold on to excess weight.

It’s now widely known that putting on and carrying excess weight can be a protective reaction to trauma. Using E.F.T. it is a fairly simple matter to clear the feelings and emotions around the trauma and allow the body to come back into balance.

What is less well- known is that holding on to excess weight can also be a reaction to a happy memory. A skilled E.F.T. practitioner should be able to help you untangle and heal those feelings and emotions too.

Another, less well-known, aspect of why we hold on to excess weight is that something traumatic happened when you were last at your ideal weight. This can be quite complex to unravel, especially if the trauma is deeply hidden.

One lady I worked with, we’ll call her Sally, used a well-known national weight loss plan and had great success up to a point. That point was 11st 11 lbs and she simply could not get past it! It was like a brick wall that she just could not get over.

Despite following the weight loss plan to the letter, she could never get beyond 11st 11lbs! That was when she turned to me for help.

After a bit of exploratory work and a lot of tapping, I asked what had been going on in her life when she was last at her ideal weight. She told me she was at college, she loved her course, had a great social life and a loving relationship. Everything had been wonderful. It seemed we’d hit another dead end.

We kept tapping, but nothing I tried resonated with her. All of a sudden she exclaimed, “Oh My God! Now I remember”. A deeply hidden memory suddenly surfaced. There was no way she wanted to go back to that! Again, clearing the emotional traumas surrounding that experience, cleared the way for her to go on to achieve her ideal weight.
