3 Key Emotional Reasons for Broken, Sprained Or Swollen Ankles
If you have hurt, broken or damaged your ankle, the first and most important emotional issue to look at is support! Your ankles reflect the support we all depend on from people around us and more importantly our inner support system. This inner support system consists of the psychological and emotional beliefs that give our lives meaning and purpose. It includes the emotional support of our loved ones or spiritual or religious convictions. If any of that is taken away, doubted or questioned there is nothing left to hold us upright. This can happen when we are shocked, traumatised, betrayed or rejected and feel unable to stand alone.
Our ankles are essential in keeping us upright, therefore they may collapse when we can no longer stand it or when the weight is just too much to bear.
A Sprained or Twisted Ankle
Our ankles also allow us to be flexible. A sprained or twisted ankle, implies a lack of flexibility in the direction we are going. The strain is too much and causes the energy to buckle or twist, i.e. to go in all directions at once.
A Swollen Ankle
A swollen ankle indicates that you are holding emotional energy, frustration or resistance to letting go.
A Broken Ankle
A broken ankle indicates a very deep emotional conflict about the ground you are standing on. Perhaps you are resisting making a change in the direction of your life, questioning your beliefs or are afraid or unable to stand up for yourself. It’s that time of year again so I thought a short Emotional Freedom Technique session to help you ease cold symptoms might be useful.
The common cold often arises from the simple belief that there is such a thing as a “Cold Season”. If we buy into this belief it’s pretty certain that we’ll develop a cold! Feelings of overwhelm, being overworked, carrying too much responsibility, being under too much pressure, feeling scattered and not taking time to listen to your body and slow down also often result in us developing colds.
If you are feeling under the weather check to see if you are feeling any of these emotions. That will give you ideas for what to tap on. But you can get started right now by following the suggestions below.
If you are not familiar with E.F.T. Just follow the tapping points illustrated below.
Starting at the Side of Hand Point say your set up statement out loud if possible and tap gently on the Side of the Hand with two or three fingers of your other hand.
“Even though I have this cold, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself”. Repeat this three times then tap the Eyebrow Point gently around ten times saying “I have this cold”. Move to the Side Of Eye point and repeat, “I have this cold”. Repeat this at all the tapping points finishing off with the Top of Your Head point.
Return to your Side of Hand Point and say “Even though I have this cold, I know it’s my body’s way of giving me a message, maybe it just wants to me to slow down and take some time out. Or maybe it wants me to look after myself a bit more. Maybe I’ve just been doing to much and need to rest, nurture and love myself more. I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself and I am grateful to my body for giving me this message. Repeat this three times.
Move to the Eyebrow Point and tap gently around ten times saying “My body is giving me this message, I am grateful. I now choose to listen to my body and take good care of myself”.
Repeat this at all the tapping points finishing off with the Top of Your Head point.
Back to the Side of Hand Point and say, “Even though I have (state symptom), I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself and my body. I am now listening to my body’s messages”. Again, repeat this three times then tap round the points using the reminder phrase, “This symptom (whatever the symptom is, i.e. this blocked nose etc).
You can then do a round for each of your symptoms.
