The Amazing Secrets Hidden In Your Fingers

The Amazing Secrets Hidden In Your Fingers

hands

Every part of our bodies hold messages for us. When we can decipher them, we can start to heal, our fingers are no exception.

Pain or injury in different fingers have different meanings. As with everything we have two of, the side of the body affected, is very relevant to discovering the meaning.

Right or Left?

Generally speaking, the right side of our body represents the masculine principle; the outside world, intellect, finance, authority, business etc. The left side represents the feminine principle; our inner-world, intuition, wisdom, creativity, nurturing etc.

So keeping that in mind, we can begin to decipher the deeper meanings of pain, injury or crookedness in our fingers.

Thumb

The thumb is related to mental processes and pain or injury here can indicate worry.

Index Finger

Pain or injury to the index finger relates to an ego or blame issue regarding a current situation. It also suggests that anger and fear are involved.

Middle Finger

The middle finger relates to anger and sexual issues.

The Ring Finger

The ring finger relates to unions and grief.

The Little Finger

The little finger relates to family issues and untruths.

    Hi
Have managed to hurt my middle joint (skin looks like it will scar) on my right index finger and split the nail on the same finger.
Injuries seperate in cause but, so random that it’s the same finger.
Shed any little light on this?

    Thanks in advance

      Hi Sarah,
Thanks for contacting me. How interesting 🙂 The fact that it’s the same finger and you have hurt it twice in separate “accidents” makes me smile, I don’t believe in “accidents” :). There is a message here for you. Just off the top of my head, obviously I don’t know you or what’s going on with you, but because it is your right hand I would be looking at things in your outer world, perhaps work, business or an authority figure of some kind. As it is your index finger, I’d be looking for issues around anger, fear, blame and/or some kind of ego issue.

I hope that helps and I would love to hear what you come up with. I hope your finger is feeling better now.
      Smiles,
      Barbara

Wow! I cant believe how recent the comments are on here:.. My Middle Finger on my Left hand’s most proximal joint to my hand(the first joint up the finger) has been hurting for a few weeks now! Anyone want to give it a go ^_=)!?

      Hi Max,
As it is your left hand I would be looking at issues in your inner-world, as it mentions in the article above. The middle finger of the left hand is linked with the solar plexus, issues around taking action and achieving results, perceived self-limitation, criticism and judgements etc. On a physical level it can relate to circulation and sexual issues. Of course, this is just a generalisation, you’d have to look into what was going on in your life when the pain started, find out if that was similar to something that had happened in the past and do a bit of detective work. But hopefully this is enough to help you make some inroads to understanding the deeper meaning.

      Kind regards,
      Barbara

      Hi Wendy,
The left thumb is connected with self-assertion, self-worth, issues about standing up for yourself, suppressing your feelings, feelings of isolation or loneliness, emotional coldness, detachment, colds, sore throats, sinusitis and breathing difficulties.

      I hope that helps,
      Sincerely,
      Barbara

I’m attending a life-coaching program, and after some emotionally intense exercises, my right ring twitches a lot. Possibly TMI, but historically I’m an over-analyser who’s stuck in his head, and I often attend to others at my expense like a martyr. I’ve lots of approval seeking and controlling behavior that is very passive. Any thoughts are appreciated, and thank you for this opportunity to express myself. All the best.

      Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for commenting, my apologies for the delay in replying. You already seem to be very self-aware so I am not sure what I can add apart from honouring your courage in delving deeper. I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit for the intense inner work so many of us do. It is funny you mention looking after others at your own expense because the right ring finger is connected with problems around giving and receiving! 🙂 It is also connected to relationship issues and connection with others. So that seems very apt. Physically it relates to the thyroid, adrenals and thymus.

I hope that helps shed a bit more light on it for you.

      Very sincerely,
      Barbara

I woke up this morning with a dull stabbing pain in the tip of my right thumb. I have been having very intense meditations since January of this year. From your description, I can’t tell if the thumb pain is that I “should” worry about something (I forgot an important meeting was happening today for my business) or the pain is that I am worried (this shift/awakening) will change my entire professional relationships and pursuits. Your time and point of view is greatly appreciated!

      Hi Bobee,
Despite what it looks like from the comments here I am not an expert in fingers LOL. I have no idea why this particular article is so popular. 🙂 As you are a meditator you’ll know the answers lie within. As the pain was in your right thumb and you are describing outer-world, work related, professional issues, my gut instinct would be that you are worrying in the now as now is when the pain has shown up.
Go within and ask your inner-being, I am certain you know deep inside, it just might be awfully scary to look at. 🙂

Wishing you the very best of the best,
      Love,

ok, where do I begin 🙂 theres a lot going on in my life so I’m not supprised if my finger injuries are related to that…im in the process of healing, changing things and feel im currently going through a huge spiritual awakening. Life’s been very challenging over the last year and finally seems to be taking a turn toward the right direction, although not full there yet. Along this journey theres been lots of heartache, anger, acceptance, change, but now a huge shifts towards acceptace, courage, determination and lots and lots of magical signs, angel messages through numbers (sequences, repitition etc)… feels like new beginnings, spirtual enlightenment, progression, next chapter. To add to this though, I fell on my ‘Right Ring Finger’ a few weeks ago’, its still hurts a little…then a week later the wind randomly blew my car door back whilst getting out of the car and the weight of the door pushed my ‘Left Little Finger’ back, causing it to seriously swell. Its still swollen but getting better. Two days later, I get a cut simultaneosly on my ‘Left Ring Finger’ and ‘Left Middle Finger’ both at the same time! So currently, I have four fingers in some sort of injury/pain… gosh I must have some serious issues lol. Please shed some light if you can…would be so appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Hello and thank you for this article. I see that the pinky finger is related to family and untruths. I cut my left pinky pretty deep today using scissors to open a package. I have a family event coming up this Sunday that is causing me a lot of anxiety due to relationships and fallouts with at least 4 of my sister in laws. I have tried to make peace but I am still aware of the awkward interactions (or lack of) and strongly feel their distain for me. I would like to move past the hurt and be content with how things are and just let it be. Any advice? Thank you again.

      Hi Manda,
Thank you for your comment, no matter how many cases I hear I am always in awe of how our injuries or so called ‘accidents’ always tie in with our emotional states! I fully understand your anxiety over the forthcoming family event, family can be our greatest challenges. It is fairly short notice but if I were you I would do some Emotional Freedom Technique Tapping on your anxiety. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6kq9N9Yp6E To do a thorough job you would really have to tap for all the individual relationships and specific fallings out, but given the time you have available you could tap along with this video for your general anxiety. Long term if you want to clear and heal all your family issues I strongly suggest you learn E.F.T. for yourself or find an E.F.T. practitioner to work with. If you are interested in learning more about E.F.T. you can schedule a free half hour Skype consultation with me from this page, https://www.healing-affirmations.com/book-your-personal-e-f-t-session/. I hope that helps and I wish you the very best of luck.

The base of my little finger on my left hand has been stiff and sore for about a week. The pain will go up and then fade then come back if I bump that area. Tender to the touch. Please tell me why. I’m only 30 no health issues.

Without a bit more detective work, I am afraid I can’t tell you what message the stiffness and pain in your little finger has for you, but there will be a psycho emotional reason for it. You may find some clues in my my free Simple Guide to What Your Everyday Aches & Pains Really Mean

Hello, my name is Angela, after meditating today, I saw a ring, and now my left ring finger is hurting, there is someone new that I sort of “met”, and as I was meditating, three birds came to my window and a child yelled out his name while playing outside… This person is technically my boss/colleague/teacher as of a few days ago… I’m a bit freaked out and I highly doubt what I’m thinking these signs are… Couldn’t possibly be what I think it is… I have no faith in love and all that stuff anymore to be honest.. And I think even thinking even remotely thinking in that regard towards someone I work with and barely know is really inappropriate and weird… Could it mean something else? I don’t know… Any input/opinion I would greatly appreciated. Even if its “You’re just over thinking and being silly” Thanks so much.

      Dear Angela,

Thank you so much for writing and sharing your interesting experience with me, how very fascinating it is! You have made me smile as I had a kind of similar experience a few days ago. I had a call postponing a business meeting with someone I haven’t yet met. The caller said he had to postpone it for personal reasons but didn’t say what they were. Almost instantly the thought of blood pressure issues came into my mind and wouldn’t budge. Another part of my mind told me not to be so stupid, after all I don’t even know this man….. imagine my surprise when he called me later and told me he’d been sent to hospital with blood pressure issues! 🙂 I know this is a bit different to your experience but it feels similar, as you say, inappropriate and equally outlandish to my rational mind. 🙂 I am in the exact same situation as you regarding ‘love and stuff’ but I think your intuition is telling you something, just as mine was. I suspect your answer will unfold in due course, part of you already knows what it means 🙂 If I were you I’d just let it be and see what happens. I most certainly don’t think you are being silly but you are maybe overthinking it. With love and smiles, Barbara X

Hello my name is Dishaun, I’m 25, in 2014 I broke my pinky finger on my left hand. The bottom half broke in half and I had to get 3 screws in it and even went to physical therapy for it. I used to have wear a small cast on it to keep it straight but i lost it lol so now it looks deformed. Me and an ex boyfriend (true story) was literally playing around and my pinky got caught in his hoodie and somehow it broke. So in 2016, my daughter was born (not by the ex boyfriend), she was born with an extra digit on her left hand, it wasn’t fully formed, it was a piece of stringy skin and a little ball. The doctor tied a string around it and it fell off. Does that have a spiritual meaning? and also I’m confused on the meaning for the pinky finger “The little finger relates to family issues and untruths”, I cant recall any family issues, as far as i can think back,.

      Hi Dishaun,
What an amazing story, thank you for sharing it with us. I believe there is a spiritual meaning to everything, including injury and dis-ease, so I am certain there is a spiritual meaning to your and your daughter’s experiences. There are other books which go into these things in much more depth for example, Your Body Speaks Your Mind by Deb Shapiro and Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K Truman. Hi! I had an awkward fall while running and managed to fracture my left thumb, which took most of the weight. Then only a week and a half later, I jammed my left thumb, which led to a sprain. Now I’m dealing with two healing thumbs. I rarely have injuries – haven’t dealt with a fracture in close to 20 years. Any insight here re: what’s really going on (!) would be much appreciated. Thanks!

      Hi Yvette,

The ring finger of the left hand relates to your inner-child and to issues around guilt, blame, shame or anger. It can be connected with feelings of being stressed, unbalanced or run-down. Unresolved childhood issues can also be connected to the ring finger of the left hand. I have free healing affirmations and meditations both as MP3 files and on our Release, Heal & Transform mobile app. if you feel that guilt, blame, shame or anger are in any way related. I also offer free affirmations to help you release stress.

At work this morning, I was holding my breakfast in my left hand while shutting the door behind me with my Right hand. My right ring finger got caught in the door smashing it. It hurt, and I immediately started to blow out the pain and release the anger associated with it. I’m a Reiki Master so I started reiki on it. It has some throbbing left. What could this mean?

      Hi HRose,
Thank you for your question, that’s a bit of a strange one isn’t it? I don’t know what a splinter represents exactly. Because it is on your right hand it represents something in the outside world, perhaps work or business etc.intruding on you. Something uncomfortable even perhaps piercing. Hi Barbara, so I smashed my right thumb on the door of a car and now the nail is coming off. For some reason after that happened I thought about looking up what it means since I’ve been going through deep emotional issues. I ended up not looking it up and some time after that I cut my left thumb and now I fell and hurt my left thumb. It’s interesting that there’s a spiritual connections to these things. (I kind of thought I was crazy for even wanting to look it up). I would like to know how come I’ve been hurting my thumbs so often?

    Thanks.

    Hi Barbara,
My partner has a suspected broken right pinky, we’re currently talking about moving in together could this indicate stress related to finance. Or would it indicate something a little different?

      Hi Natash,
It could well be related. The little finger of the right hand relates to issues around survival and security, family and tribe. Issues relating to trust, feeling not good enough, not strong enough or lacking courage. You might like to download my free Simple Guide to What Your Everyday Aches & Pains Really Mean for more info. Good luck with your plans.

    Hi Barbara,
For about a year I’ve had a recurring very small rash on my left hand between my middle and ring finger. Do you have any insights on this?

      Hi Lie,

You might like to read through the transcript of my Soothe Your Skin meditation and see if any of the emotional issues listed there resonate with you. You can also download my free guide to What Your Everyday Aches and Pains Really Mean for more information on the emotional issues around skin conditions and the general meanings of problems with the different fingers. I hope that helps.
      Love,

I woke up this morning and since O started my spiritual journey I have been getting sharp pains in my ring finger. And this morning it was like someone pinching it and sending a pain all the way up my left arm. Sometimes it happens when I’m driving and I have taken it to mean something with my future husband but have been unable to gain clarity on what this might be. I always stop and pray for him. I have recently started dating a new guy and unlike another guy I had dated back in 2016 I would get the pain when out with him and this strong sense if I wasn’t supposed to be with him and God reminding me of his promise. I don’t get the pain in my finger when with this new guy it is when we are apart. And I have asked him what we’re you doing at this time we’re you okay? And one time he was the next time was fine. Not sure what to think about this pain

How intriguing, Erica. All our answers lie within but they can be hard to work out sometimes. I am sure you’ll get to the bottom of it. Good luck. Blessings, Barbara

    Hi Barbara,
Two years ago in Australia I cut the main tendon in my left foot, which required surgery twice, I was bed bound for 2 months. I met a lady then who mentioned this represented my feminine energy and relationships. 7 months after that accident, (in Europe) I purchased a brand new motorbike which had incorrect brake settings (confirmed fault from the bike company) and threw me off, dragging my whole left side at least 4 meters along the road, without a helmet I would not be here… I have scars on my left shoulder, elbow, forearm, hip, thigh and both knees… I often limp when tired and back pain is normal…Today, 2 years later from the initial tendon issue, I oddly caught my left thumb in a saucepan handle while washing/rinsing it, and then later the same night, stupidly cut the top off the same thumb cap, two silly instances, which led me to once again research this left side business. I have been back and forth between Europe and Australia for the last 7 years, I am unsettled, and feel like I have been trapped in the wrong continent now with this virus. I also feel like I keep being given the same lesson, but no matter which way I play it out, I end up at the same place. Do I risk everything or play it safe, listen to my head, my heart or my stomach?

Oh my Goodness, Leta! I REALLY felt for you as I read through this story. Wow! You have been through the mill! Funnily enough, every ‘accident’ or injury I’ve had for the last twenty years or so has been on my right side so I understand how you feel. I know you know the answer lies inside but it’s not always easy to find it. As you say, do you listen to your head, your heart or your stomach? What sprang to my mind when I read your question was my Self-Love Affirmations might help you clear the blocks to hearing your own wisdom and intuition. You can find Self-Love Part 1 here and Part II here.

I hope that helps and wish you all the very best on your journey of discovery.

Please look after yourself and stay safe.
      Love,
      Barbara x
